What do you live for?
I typed and backspaced and typed and backspaced for this question a couple times...love? experiences? dreams? creation? family? friends? food? learning? ohno! I'm baffling myself. I'd fill up the entire webpage until my answer crams up along the edges of the computer screen... and when it hangs, there'd be some trouble there HAHA. :P I've come to realize then, that I live for life. (It sounds like I'm not really answering the question but I am.)
Why?
I can't explain this accurately because attempting to do so is akin to devaluing life. Even if I try to write about it in an epic (let alone a paragraph), it will still be acutely insufficient. To me, the depth and complexity of what life holds is far too beautiful to be described in mere words. It's like the phantasmagorical dreams we only remember snippets of when we wake up, the butterfly that landed softly on our hands for one moment and flitted away the next, the memories from our childhood which we still cradle fondly, our favourite scenes from films or books that never fail to make us laugh heartily or cry intensely, the warmth of the sun or light breeze of the ocean air... something that is constantly mysterious and elusive in a dynamic way.
What is some of the best advice that you have been given/want to give our readers?
- Have immense faith in yourself. Never stop dreaming. Be authentic. Love deeply.
- Don't be afraid of 'screwing up' because that's the part that is the most fun.
- Humour gets you through a lot. It's also especially useful if you want to insult someone and avoid being punched in the guts at the same time.
- Binging on comfort food when you're upset is OKAY. Really. I personally love spooning ice cream from the tub itself.
- But most importantly, if someone else gives you an advice, and something inside you tells you that it seems like bullshit of sort... then don't take it. DON'T. Trust yourself. It's your life that you've living.
Complete this sentence: Life is too short to...
Sorry, ahem.. Not trying to be annoying but I actually think life expectancy is quite high now, especially in developed countries with sophisticated medical technology and higher standards of living. I digress oops. The issue here is, life doesn't have to be thought of as short to be cherished...(though it definitely helps because there may be a 'panic effect'). Assuming that there are no threatening diseases, AIDS/HIV, accidents, freak accidents etc happen, it can be long. It's all quite relative really. The more crucial point to me is that it is a continual stream, which means that you will never be the person you are one second ago, again. *Cues music, 'One day' by Kodaline* Rather, life is too fleeting to eat mcdonalds, do stupid, senseless, meaningless things, worry excessively, miss chances, lack courage, repeat the same mistakes, eat mcdonalds... (inserts the various wise advice from other posts and famous figures). We only get one shot at life, so make every moment count as much as possible.
Something random you'd like to say?
Hold on to the silly little things. :) Oh, and hot chocolate is the perfect remedy for any sort of mess you get into.
